Recently, I took a quick survey of the techs at Beasley Technology: “What is the best free software on the Web?” They gave me some great information to pass on to you. Each of these programs is available as a free download. Some of these are essential for the health of your computer; some are just kind of nice to have around. We will post a link to each of these downloads on our website, http://www.beasleytech.net, so you don’t have to worry whether or not you are downloading the right thing. Here is the (by no means comprehensive) list:

Remember when everybody wanted a “big-screen TV?” You know, one of those giant boxes that took over your entire living room? We had a friend in college whose TV was so enormous; it left very little room for seating in his apartment. He didn’t have people over very often because there was no place to put them. He didn’t care.

I received a Facebook message from a friend a couple of weeks ago. It said, "Hey, your booty looks great in this video. Check it out!" It was accompanied by a link, supposedly to a video of my booty. I immediately recognized this for a scam, since 1.) My friend does not HAVE a video of my booty; 2.) If she DID have a video of my booty, she would not send me a message about it on Facebook. She would say to herself, "Oops! Someone accidentally focused the camera on Kristin's booty! I'd better delete that video," and 3.) My friend would NEVER use the word "booty."

Raise your hand if your computer is running Windows Vista. Okay, now raise your hand if you are happy with Windows Vista. Well, it turns out very few people are happy with Vista, so on October 22nd, Microsoft will release the new Windows 7. According to microsoft.com, the company “built Windows 7 to make your PC simpler and the things you do every day easier.” How, you ask? I’ll give you a very basic run-through of some of the ways in which Microsoft 7 is different from Windows Vista.
